Hello all,
Have not posted in some time but read forum almost daily and know this is the spot too get some good advice. For those of you that have off grid cabins, what type of wire would you use to run in ground for a small distance to another building for a light or two. This would not be a large scale system with a big bank of batteries, but a small two or three deep cycle marine battery system just enough for lights. Thanks.

I have this light from HF

stays on all night on dim. then brightens to full when the motion sensor trips.

will charge when the switch on the back is in the Off, or On position.

There's quite a bit of cross-pollination between FF and the the CountryPlans forum.  Probably a good source for ideas on off-grid power.

I'd consider using an inverter and running AC wiring in the cabin as well as to the outbuilding.  That's what I'm planning for when I actually build my place.

yep, DC is good for short distance, AC is great for longer distance.
what is "short" and what is "long"?
think short as in a RV trailer, and Long as more than a 50 foot extension cord
