I just bought an old Dehaven stove.  I've been told it was meant to burn coal but I'm going to burn wood in it.  My question is why are there three ways to let air in?  There is one on the door which provides access to the ash tray and would provide air below the grate at the bottom of the firebox.  The second is on the firebox door and has very small holes.  The third just below where the flue comes off.  Thanks.

Pipe has a damper, draft would feed air under the fire. My old furnace had a peep hole that would slide open to view the fire without opening the door.
