Trapper, I don't really know have never hit a nail that large on the circular mill. What I would do is carry a can of spray paint and when I drove a nail in, put a spot of paint. If you don't see a nail head start digging. Frank C.

I got a metal detector that I think works good. Instead of scanning every log I decided woods trees are pretty safe unless near a fenceline. yard trees all get scanned. 

Unfortunately rocks are non metallic and do much more damage to a blade than a nail would.

Unless that nail holds a ceramic insulator!!!
I am in the pink when sawing cedar.

Have tried for years to get people to use aluminum nails in trees.
