A client friend of mine built this last year.  Features a heat sink of plastic barrels filled with water, there is a drain tile buried about 100 feet warming and bringing fresh air, supplemental heat is with a wood stove, and the planters are old tanks cut in half. Just figured  some of you might find it interesting.
Coldest it's been is 39 degrees with out heat, usually stays in the 60s.

neat!  I almost bought a house with only a woodstove, and underground tunnels.  good thing I did not, or I would still be single.
