after posting I jump to the host forum that the posted to thread is in..
how do make a post and return to the thread I'm in instead?...
is there a setting I need to make or is this the default process?...

and...

is there a way to simply follow a thread for the notifications w/o needing to make a post to it?...

and...

can the smilies be turned off?...

Ive really got no idea what you are asking. There are many setting you can change in personal settings in your profile. look under profile/look and layout maybe.

Yes,you can be notified on any topic by clicking on the notify button.
