Just the bone? or some of the good stuff on the bone? kinda dumb question I reckon,, enjoy!
only have a few chain saws I'm not suppose to use, but will at times, one dog Dolly, pretty good dog, just not sure what for yet,  working on getting the gardening back in order, and kinda thinking on maybe a small bbq bizz,  thinking about it,

We always leave about an inch of meat all around the bone.  Less trimming makes more for the soup.

Sounds good. My last hambone went to a batch of split pea soup. :)
Hudson HFE-21 on a custom trailer, Deere 4100, Kubota BX 2360, Echo CS590 & CS310, home built wood splitter, home built log arch, a logrite cant hook and a bread machine. And a Kubota Sidekick with a Defective Subaru motor.

I like to use a ham bone trimmed like you described to cook in a pot of soup beans. Now thats good eating.

My Dad said when he was young, several families used the same Ham Bone to flavor Pintos. They would always return it and loan it again.  :)
The older I get I wish my body could Re-Gen.

I love veggie soup with the ham bone as the center piece!
I also like a lot of Barley in mine. Or should I say the little bit I put in turned into a LOT!
I tried to use a Honey Baked Ham Bone once and every place the cutter nicked the bone it left bone chips in the soup!   :(

Magic, you really need to get YUKON CORNELIUS's son to make you a big wooden spoon to eat that soup with.
