I suspect that log is a hard maple. Around my area we call them rock maple. Looks like it will make some great slabs. I sawed some similar spalted maple slabs a couple of months ago. I do not have the ability to kiln dry. Any idea how long it will take this type of maple to dry sufficiently to be usable for furniture? I have them stored in a Shelter Logic portable shelter out of direct sunlight. I am in hopes this shelter will allow them to dry properly.

It is hard Maple. I understand hardwood takes a year an inch to air dry. I have not been doing it that long and use mostly eastern white pine. A good moisture meter is the only way to tell for sure.
