footerIf I picture that right, hanging a deck on a rim joist often doesn't have the strength needed if the deck isn't supported some other way. It can be a weak link in the deck system, as rim joists are not designed for that load. Just good to keep that in mind. More than one deck built that way has pulled off the house. And I know, many decks are built that way.........
