Yesterday the DOE announced a new category to guide consumers to the top tier of energy-efficient models for such common appliances as TVs and refrigerators.

One of the TVs (from INSIGNIA) that meets the requirements for this label is 23.6" that only cost $4.76 per year - at 5 hours per day at $0.109 per kWh.  Check out some of them at:  http://www.energystar.gov/index.cfm?c=most_efficient.me_tvs.

Hey Gary - think one of these would help you out with your battery problem. :D ;D :D ;D :D ;D ::) ::) ::)

Bruce's post reminded me that I intended to inform DirecTV users of power used by the (old) silver receivers. (The newer black receivers have some nice features that make them a better choice.)

I plugged my Kill-a-Watt device in and found that the receiver uses the same amount of electricity whether it is on or off--that is 28 watts. That's about $25 per year at 10ยข per kilowatt.

There is no need to say 'unleaded regular gas'. It's all unleaded. Just say 'regular gas'. It's not the 70s anymore. (At least that's what my wife tells me.)
