General Board / Got to experience a dust devil...
Last post by Southside - Today at 10:58:26 PM
We have a field that has more than its share of dust devils that pop up in it, today was the second one I have seen this year as I filmed the last one a month or so ago.  Anyway this one was about 2'  wide at ground contact level and eh 20' or so tall.  It was strong enough to make wood chips dance but not completely leave the ground and was 30' from me when I spotted it so I decided to chase it down and ran into it - felt just like one of those storm chasers.  What was really interesting was that from 10' away the thing was absolutely silent, but once I stepped inside of it - man was it loud and quite windy.  Knocked my hat around but the most surprising thing was once I was inside of it I could no longer see it. I could feel it and hear it, but there was nothing to see - was a pretty amazing experience for those few seconds.

you may want to lift the head from both sides with a cable, so it does not rack.  four post gantry/head.

can you take a few projects to show that are not done, and maybe do some sanding with a batt operated sander and such (as Howard would say).  It may draw some attention, and draw folks in.  It will reiterate that you make these, and I doubt it, but might even get some stuff done.  the hope would be that you are constantly interrupted by folks that want to buy stuff.  do you have a white tarp to go over the trailer could even make a side tend for the trailer.  you can sit there enjoying the day.  the repack may always be hard, especially if you sell the bigger stuff that other things nested in.  you are moving forward and making progress.

Quote from: Jeff on Yesterday at 06:45:46 PMThat was a 5 mag crank phone magneto  pictured above.
Now I know what happened to that guy grandpa was chasing. Grandpa said he nearly caught him but he got away and went way up north somewhere and was never heard from again. Now we know the rest of the story. ffcheesy

Congratulations. See if NC offers an infant lifetime hunting, fishing and trapping license and if so get him one now so he can go with you forever. I got my three local granddaughters theirs.

Farmer nails.  ffsmiley A carpenter friend of mine turned 60 a few years ago so I gave him 60 bentish rusty nails out of my bucket. He laughed his dad dad saved nails too.  The stories made me smile.

Jeff, come on down!  Might need to bring 3 coolers.

MM, unfortunately, in my efforts to put lots of habitat in the pond, I have rootballs and other snags all over the bottom.
