A story about my Frick 01 sawmill
« on: May 20, 2022, 12:26:43 PM »
When I bought my sawmill I was told it came with history and stories.

This is one

This mill was from the W. K. Jones Saw mill/lumber company in Brooklet, Ga. On Hwy 80.  The blade hit a horseshoe that had grown into the tree.  Wendell (the sawyer) pushed the mill so hard that he wanted the back of the log to go through the saw before the front hit it.  So when that log hit the horseshoe there was a lot of forward speed on the logÖpieces of teeth, bits, and blade pieces went everywhere.  They removed the shanks and bits that were left in to see if it could be fixed.

Yikes, you see torn off shoulders often but it is also broken over the collar. It is a wonder it stayed together.
