We would like to clear a large piece of our property and sell the trees.  We have no sun and want to create a field and garden area.  We live in south west michigan.  I have contacted a local forester and made a few calls, but no one has called me back.  Does anyone on this site have any advice?

I would play your odds and contact more foresters.  This is a busy time of the year so many are on the road or in the field.  Your county conservation district (269-471-9117) should have a list of active foresters in the area, so should you MSU extension office (269-944-4126). Cross reference those lists with folks on the Assciation of Consulting foresters website.

or most forest stewardship plan writers are consulting foresters as well.

also, Society of American Foresters lets you search for foresters by state

You could also check for folks working in northern Indiana.

If you want to make a field with a garden, also think about the cost of removing the stumps. You'll probably want them dug out not ground, to be able to run a plow and disc. Just questions to ponder for your future plan.

Welcome to the Forestry Forum.
A pic would be great and would help give you some answers from the foresters on the forum, and we like pics. As well, some idea of size ans species, and land area you are thinking of clearing would help.  i.e. large meaning an acre, or 10 ?
If you like running equipment and hard work, might be worth looking into purchase of your own and when done, sell it.
