Hi guys,
Does anyone know who would make a knife plate standoff post base for 10" x 10"?  Simpson makes a non-knife post base.  I will want to use adhesive for the anchor bolts.  If I have to get it made then I'll probably go with something like a two piece weld on.

Thanks,

John

Why not check with a local welding shop to make what you need?

Sounds like what I'm contemplating.
Do you have a pic of what you're considering?
I was thinking about a 1/4" plate the same footprint as the base of the beam and 1 or 2 vertical plates(welded to the base plate) that would be inletted into the beam and be through bolted with a length of threaded rod and some counter-bored washers and nuts.
Is this what you were referring to?

Ok,
Here is what I came up with.  I had great input and help with this from a knowledgeable source.  This is a weld on application.  I may replace the square tube with an X of steel to open up access to the bolts in which case you wouldn't have to weld on site.  This is for a 10" x 10" post with a 24" knife to be set perpendicular to the ride counteract racking in the structure.

Couldn't open it...what's the program?

You could also run an upper and lower base plate w/a knife plate like the file shows and run 2 sides of the box rather than a full square tube.
This would be easier to fabricate and still allow access to the hardware.

I think that I have settled upon the 'X' configuration. between the two plates that will allow access to the anchor bolts.  I will attach the post to the knife using SFS screws with holes that are pre-drilled into the knife plate.  In talking with the fabricator he suggested that I use the 1/2" plate to help to prevent the plate from warping when it is being welded up.  I could probably use 3/8" but if 1/2" makes it easier to fabricate then that is what I'll use.

The sketchup drawing is attached.

Thanks for the input,

John
