My oldest 365 started to rattle bad today so we took the top end off and the bearing was smoked. I debated fixing it but I ordered another 2166 instead! I'll just save it for parts or a rainy day I guess.

How old is the saw? If it has a lot of hours on it you likely made a wise move.

Its a 98 but it was used lightly by a homeowner till about a year ago when I bought it and it was in real good shape for 150 I couldn't go wrong. But it has been run real hard full time since I bought it so its time to upgrade I guess and put it in the parts bin. It certainly doesn't owe me anything

The 365's and 372's don't have the strongest bottom ends. Not to start an oil debate, but running more oil "32:1" resolves the issue.

I have a 372 that gets the 40:1 treatment.  ;D And is tuned to 40:1.

Sure will and does.  385's and 390's have clutch side crank bearing failures @ 50:1.  32:1 seems to cure the problem.  Been @ 32:1 for over 20 yrs no crank problems so far.

I lost the bottom end on a Johnny 2165 once,  running 50:1 like recommended :( Now I like 32:1 too.

I have always run about 50:1 in my saws I buy six packs of the husqvarna 5 gallon mix then I put about 4.9 gallons of 91 in. But after hearing that a lot of people run 32:1 I have been thinking of switching over. Is there any performance loss by running more oil? About how long should a 365/372 normally go being worked hard full time. If I get 2 years out of a new saw I'm happy but if I could get another year by running more oil I certainly would!

There will be no loss in performance with a properly tuned saw running 32:1 fuel mix. 2 years is pretty good in commercial use. I really can't tell you how long any given saw should last, but I've seen 372's in full time use last longer than 2 years with proper care.

Yeh I figured 2 years wasn't too bad for full time use but I may give the 32:1 a try or at least 40:1 like cfarm said

The only difference I have noticed is that I have to buy a bit more oil :) I'very never fouled a plug in any of my saws.
