I live in Scotland, 26 years old. Previous experiences is onshore oil service rigs and most aspects of engineering but I am looking to become a woodcutter/tree faller or however you call it. I was wondering if you guys had any tips for anybody starting out? I am currently saving up for my tickets, saw and a van.

Lots of folks on here are arborist and lots more are loggers. Someone with MUCH more experience in it will be along shortly. I just do it as a hobby and I like to play with a chainsaw :o
Trying harder everyday.

Wish you luck in your endeavor.
Pls tell us what you are thinking to why you need "tickets, saw, and a van".  ??

Are there "help wanted" ads for woodcutters?

It may be that my sole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others

In the UK you apparently need tickets and your own saw etc.

You might also want to look into planting/reforestation projects going on in Scotland. Ive heard there's a bit of larger scale refo going on there.
