Hi All,
I just picked up a Garrett Tree farmer I think model 10 with a Gearmatic winch. I have a few questions which winch is it, and how does it work? It has 2 master cylinders one for in and one for out when you engage the PTO, how do you make it go free spool to pull out. The previous owner said it was stuck in the in mode and the sliders are right at the winch so I am scared to engage the PTO for fear of breaking something. Read More

Several years ago I got to know a young forester. I (the land) wasn't really ready for a harvest but there were lots of improvements to be made. My large tract has only ever been a "woodlot" and owned for that purpose, we bought it from a logger and his ownership seemed to be pretty respectful to the land. It's got a good road system for any type of log truck to a handful of landings and lots of "secondary" trails that I've kept open in the past 18 years. Read More
