Another rolling log related death

GALVESTON, Texas -

A 3-year-old child died after being hit by a log on a beach, investigators said.

Galveston County sheriff's deputies said LaShaun Lovejoy Huff and his grandfather and 15-year-old sister were walking along the beach near Monkhouse Road in Crystal Beach at around 3:30 p.m.

A shift in the sand sent a 39-foot piece of driftwood rolling down a sand dune, investigators said. The log, which weighs several hundred pounds, rolled about 4 feet before it hit LaShaun, officials said.

The boy's sister and grandfather lunged to push him out of the way, but could not move him in time. They were also hurt and rushed to the hospital. The teen suffered injuries to her shoulder and arm.

Detectives said LaShaun died on the beach.

Officials think it was nothing more than a freak accident but are still investigating.

That is just awful. Talk about being at the wrong place at the wrong time. And the relatives that tried to save him and saw it happen.

That would definately classify as a freak of nature accident!
