The latch on the big gate is broken, and it's too cold to fix it.

Temp is hovering around 3° today with more snow was -11° last night. Wind coming across the ice cubes on the lake straight from Canada so it feels in the minus double digits.

Too cold for this time of year.

SwampDonkey

Well, the bears are still around frolicking in the snow. New prints during the mild spell. Been eating corn according to his bowl movements. ;D He likes to follow my trails as any critter would. ;) But now the corn was just cut the day before the rain. He'll probably soon go to his hole on the side of Mars Hill some place. Not unheard of to see bear in December around here. Seen a moose, more like heard him, running on the crusty snow about 100 yards in the softwoods. Lots of other tracks around. Saw an old deer track on my trail. Never going to see many deer here, never was even 50 years ago. We had lots of deer in NB, but not around here. Three or four in a bunch, versus 40 - 100 deer in a herd up on the Tobique. That's why sportsman from down south went up there. ;)

Cleared here after dinner and clear for tomorrow. 20's for temps.

Need a photo. Afternoon sun hitting the window so it looks a little hazy out. Someone running a drier over in neighbouring Maine. ;D

A-Town can get just a little snow out of today's event.  Tree farm in Oconto County can see up to 9 inches today.  Forecast has been for a snowy winter since mid-summer.  I hear nothing but scoffing at meteorology, but if you ask me, it is getting pretty darn impressive.
Ask me about hybrid larch!

The snow can quit anytime. Over 26 inches in the last 3 days. It just keeps coming.

SwampDonkey

Those lakes would be great snow makers for ski hills. Is there any hills big enough up there for a ski business? ;D

Our next snow here is expected Tuesday, but 1" rain predicted for tomorrow. That will be interesting driving for the first couple hours when the rain hits 15F pavement. ;D

There's Duluth Minn about 20 miles south of Me that has a Ski Hill called Spirt Mountain. They had to cancel a Snow Mobile,Snow Cross Race 2 weeks ago when The Bluzzard came through. If I  happen to be in the right spot at night I can see it lite up pretty good. Also, 3 more inchs yesterday of snow. The morning before was -20F. It's been a cold snowy fall. And yes I did get my Bear Paws on the other day. So we be Logging On.

Old Greenhorn

If you want to know my weather conditions, just ask @SwampDonkey  :D. His is pretty close to mine, just add a couple of degrees. It was 23° this morning and we too are expecting over an inch of rain from later today through Sunday morning/Afternoon. Not conducive to getting a lot of work done, but I try never to waste a weekend. I have rain gear.

Yeah that's close Doc ;D. Our daytime high will be in the high 30's and the temp is predicted to stay on a steady incline hitting mid 40's by tomorrow afternoon, late. So 45 vs. 59, yeah, nearly identical. :D

Quite a few ski hills around. The porcupine mountains state park and ski hill is right down the road. UP the road an hour and a half is Mt. Bohemia which is ranked number 1 in the state for ski hills last I heard. Also hundreds of miles of groomed snowmobile trails.

SwampDonkey

Not much for snow here yet as per photos, but I live 4 miles from a ski hill in Maine. But in New Brunswick the closest is on Crabbe Mountain about an hr's drive. Sometimes we get a winter of ice and rain, then we can get a winter of non stop snow. And that had always happened here despite the hypists. Falls true with the growing zones in NB that have been unchanged every 30 years. Try and grow a peach or a magnolia up here, despite green houses selling them every year. I've yet to see one survive and flower. Even black walnut gets beat up real bad. Bristly locust has been planted up here since the 19th C, gets about 20 feet tall with a lot of dead branches every spring and finally dies back to the stump to sucker a bunch of new ones. That tells more more truth about the climate than the talking heads. :D
