My old editing software was no longer supported and stopped working 2 years go.  I haven't been able to edit for that long. Now it seems all the software that I see including the newer version of my old software, requires annual subscription cost.  My old software I bought and it was mine and I used it for 10 years.  My needs have not changed, putting clips together and trimming them and adding some titles and maybe simple sound editing.  But the new subscription version over 10 years would be 7x to 10x the cost.  I don't make a lot of videos, and I don't get any monetization, mostly private videos.  Is there any software to do simple editing without the massive cost increase?

If I say it\\\\\\\'s going to take so long, multiply that by at least 3!

My hp laptop has an app called photos legacy for what you described using video editor. I imagine most laptops have something similar?

This hp laptop is horrible,  I wouldn't recommend one.

My Dell PC has the same program so must be a Windows app.

I switched to DaVinci Resolve and started with the free edition to try that actually is great but missing extras.  I just purchased  the full version that's a one time purchase. I love it and very stable. Trying to learn the Fusion part of it now that is limitless. I used Corel videostudio for years and spent a fortune on upgrades for a program that really was garbage and very buggy.
Here's a link to it https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/davinciresolve
It's used in many Hollywood studios and after  a couple days and some youtube videos feel comfortable with basics.
Try the free version as it's supposed to be free forever.

InShot Pro Lifetime: $39.99 for a one-time purchase
I can change my profile okay. No errors. If you can,t remove all the extra info in other fields and try.

Shotcut seems to be best of the Open Source programs. It's free software, so download it and try it. If you don't like, you are only out a bit of time.

Well, Mooseherder got me to thinking... I started searching the programs on my computer (I've had it a tad over a year and a half now) and i found that there is a program called Microsoft Clipchamp on here.  I tried it tonight and it works, but I'm not sure if I'm using it on a free trial or if I will continue to have access to it.  If it tries to get me to pay, I'll look at the other programs you guys suggested.  Thanks.

Imovie is simple and free but its a phone app. I also use MS Movie Maker. Haven't used either one for a couple of years now but they are still available.

Our local library has a video production studio in there maker lab. Attached to the studio is about a dozen Mac stations with all the latest and greatest video software. Usually the administrator on duty will help a beginner get started. It's all free iffen ya have your library card. They also have free classes to teach you how to use the stuff. Might check out your local library to see what they have.

There is a free version that costs nothing, or a paid version with more features.  The free one may do everything you need?
