hi my name is Steve. i just thought i'd post here to introduce myself. i'm a heavy equipment operator, grading and excavation, not timber related.

last year i sold everything that wouldn't fit in my horse trailer and moved to the upper peninsula of MI. bought 80 acres of woodland with a  hunting cabin on it and moved in. last winter i got to know mother nature real well. there was only wood heat and the previous owner didn't leave much split wood behind. this winter i'm set, and i have electric baseboard heat for back up.

i'm learning slowly about the woods. did have a federal forester come through when i first moved here. recently a local lumber company made me an offer to trade timber for land. i'll post the deal in the appropriate sub forum.  that is what brought me to this site. i have lots of questions. i've been going through the old threads learning what i can before unleashing my noviceity (i made that up) on you all.

anyway hi and i hope after gleaning some of the combined wisdom :) here i can add some of my own  ;D

Welcome aboard.  Come and sit in anytime you want. We are here to learn from each other.  If I had a wooden nickle for everything I've learned here I wouldn't have to cut any firewood for the rest of my life. :D :D :D
