Where is it you are from? Perhaps someone nearby could come and see.

it's in michigan

it will cut 3 12 inch diameter 80 foot trees in minutes

it has a 5 foot blade direct drive next time i go to the wood lot where it is sitting i will take a video of it making wood it is powered with a 453 detroit and alot of people come by to see it work it is really cool

the cycle time to bring the trees in and cut off and bring the next part of the tree in is 3.5 seconds if i had a thicker blade or carbide inserts i could get it down under 3 seconds but i had to install a flow control valve to slow the cylinder that moves blade in. it has a apprentice type loader on top of it.

a guy was bringing me 80 foot long 12 inch ash trees three at a time and then going to get more 4 hundred yards a way with a franklin skidder and he was pulling them out of a orginized (butt ends aligned) pile then cutting tops off and was maintaining not getting a head and I wasn't falling behind we had fire wood every where it took us two weeks to split it all-- it was funny

I originally told this guy I wanted to get 20 bucks a face cord to come and cut up his trees for him and he said heck yeah it cost me that much to pay two guys and they are falling all over them selves and then the logs are on the ground. after 5 minutes he said we better negociate another deal we settled on 300  hundred a working hour

I'd like to see those 12 inch diameter, 80 foot Ash trees. Just imagine how they big they would have been when full grown.

we are cutting the trees down in the thumb these paticular trees are next to the river there is also a white oak tree that didn't get burned in the fire of 1883 or 1887 what ever year it was and this tree is 6 plus foot in diameter really kool also

the ash trees don't have a branch on most of them until 60 foot

still need a splitter or plans on building one to keep up --------  anyone???

You should try a super split. They are supposed to be the worlds fastest splitter.

i put a deposit on one today and even know this super split is kool they still have to touch th el ogs the one i am getting you never touch the log

i am also going to make a video of my saw in action at real time i know some of these videos are sped up i have a digital camera and prolly yet this week i will make it and post it on here
then when i am done with my double action splitter which by the way has 200 ton capacity on one side and 150 on the other side the 150 side is called splitz most and the other is splitz all the double cylinders on the 200 ton side are 12 inch with a 5 inch ram 5 foot stroke and the other is a 14 inch 6 inch ram 36 inch stroke

it is run by a cummings out of a truck and a 120 gpm pump 1 1/2 lines to most everything and  2 inch lines to the single cylinder the control valve weighs 350 lbs this is a kool piece of equiptment my buddy wants me to put it on the internet to show everybody what can be built with a little imagination i was like nah sounds like bragging and i don't brag just stating numbers as you can tell i took the entire running gear out of a 45 ton loader and made a splitter with it

C'mon, you guys. Give him a chance to get some pictures up before you offend him. I love to see stuff put together with spare parts and imagination. Those are some big numbers for sure, so picures would be awesome, I want to see this unit devour wood.

I am going to pick up saw with my semi tommorrow I will have pics (not in action) posted hopefully thursday in action hopefully friday i have a job to cut a semi load of logs into firewood i told the guy 20 bucks a face cord he said bring it over ( he asked me how many days will it take me) I laughed i just said not long I wanted to be nice  hee hee  ;Di  I will let you people know how long it took

My splitter I am just bout done with will weigh in excess of 15 ton so far

Stats:

single cylinder side will have a adjustable 23 way head
double side will adjustable 30 way head kinda like pushing logs through a tick tac toe pattern or a cheese grater these are made out of motor scraper cutting edges 2 inch thick ar 420 plate

2 splitters side by side  3 cylinders total  for splitting  one more 4 inch 18 inch stroke  took off farm discs out back to transfer logs from right to left side once right side is full of logs

200 ton @ 2500 psi  with 4   1 1/2 inch feed lines 2 12 inch bore with 5 inch rams 5'  stroke
150 ton @ 2500 psi  with 2   2 inch feed lines 14 inch bore with 6 inch ram 38 inch stroke

Hydraulic 120 gpm cap 130 gal tank 150  gal total
Hydraulic cooler and a 105 water tank with separate radiator and pump fully adustable to run in winter  or summer keep oil at optimal temp i can shut off the cooler so that oil warms up faster in the winter and can open up when ready to cool just like a thermostat but I used 5  1/2 inch ball valves instead

powered by a cummins 5.9 liter  out of a 90 dodge pickup i put intercooler on it
I also took off power steering unit and transmission off no need to waste power i made a coupler that bolted to crank and coupled to pump which is a vickers vane pump with a 3 inch suction 1 1/2 pressure line

it's all  built on a 4 inch by 6 inch 1/4 inch thick frame with it started out with three single 10,000 lbs axles i have to remove them and put semi running gear under or load it on my low boy to get it to jobs little light in the pants to handle the weight i found some dexter hubs off car carriers they have no axle to attach to side to side they are also air ride they will handle it no prob. tires will 11 r 22.5 hub pilot

I started with a 44 foot 1 1/4 inch thick I beam 30 inch tall 15 inch wide which I cut in half length wise then one side I cut in half the long ways which took a long time turned it so the face of the beams where at a V shape and then welded them together now that took a long time to do about 200 lbs of 1/2 inch  7018 hr4   d c  reverse polarity rods  at 350 amps  with a 3 phase welder the other side has the two cylinders side by side laying down in between top and bottom

I used the frame to be the fuel tank I ran out of room to mount one on top I was going to use frame to hold water for cooling but I needed more then it could hold I used a 105 gal fuel tank that is supossed to be in back of pick up truck

I started with a big block chevy with a allision 5 speed out of  a dump truck to power it but i figured the fuel consumption would break me so i took it off replaced it with 180 hp cummings diesel.

Excuse me for being a little leary of this amount of production. But, if it works, I may have a few days work for ya.
