Chainsaws / Re: Stihl 045 no spark

Not interested in the reward for a solution, but I hope the forum can help you fix your 044 Stihl.   If I was working on this saw I would try to pinpoint if it is a secondary or primary ignition failure.  Secondary is high voltage like spark plug, wire and coil.  The coil is both primary and secondary. Primary low voltage (trigger) so flywheel, condenser, points kill switch and primary wiring.  Do you have a volt ohm meter accessible?

When I was a kid we didn't have a TV set.Mom said it was a waste of time and money. The people who had one only got two channels and to get them the antenna had to be adjusted perfectly and usually quite a ways from the house as high on the hill as they could afford to put it.Maybe I was a little envious but sometimes for fun me and a friend of mine would slip through the woods and turn someones antenna and then hide and wait for them to climb the hill to adjust it.It was usually done after dark when we knew a popular show was on TV.The wonderful world of Disney comes to mind.

Not so far this year. Still deciding if I want to hunt. I have 10 points. I could get a tag anytime I choose. Probably since we are having a pigroast, I won't hunt. That takes dedication of time

If that isn't a "typical story" about Jake Dean I don't know what else is.  FF is full of fantastic folks that will drop everything to help one another, and Jake is certainly at the top of that list.

We are all richer for being members here.  Thanks Jeff for what you created and maintained for the rest of us.

WOW!

The aptitude, knowledge and skill level from the responders is incredible!

Tom - thanks for sharing some great stories.

GSPren - I've seen the lines that you're referencing and your explanation makes perfect sense.

Larry - as I get further into the project I'll be sure to start a thread about it.

All - many thanks for the stories and insight.

The MS170 was/is a most excellent lightweight limbing saw.  A "one pull" cranker, but I was asking too much of it around the sawmill.

I had the MS261 humming today.   ffsmiley

I am sawing my first "official" Pine Beetle killed job.  There are others in the schedule book but they are not ready and this one was.  Well almost because the customer still has 5 more trees to fall and skid.

There are about 30 ranging from about 15" to 32" top ends.  About a dozen 8 footers and the rest are 16'.  The 8' logs will be 2X4's & 4X4's.  The good 16' logs will all be 2X6's.  The knotty/limby ones will all be 4X4's.

I set the sawmill up on the 8' logs first and will reposition on the first 16' whack then this is done, and afterwards move on the the last 16' whack.

Speaking of whacks, I whacked 4 nails deeply inside of the largest log that I sawed today.

This is actually a good job and only 2 miles from home.  The forecast is for 90° tomorrow.   :sunny:

One year we thought we had about 20 turkeys. kept seeing a flock of about 20.
Then we saw 40 turkeys.  :wink_2:
I found a turkey nest one year. I was leveling out a place and she kept doing the broken wing trick. I finally found the nest and kept checking on the nest until it was empty, then I went back to my project.
