here in northeast oklahoma the erc just dont grow that well. some of the old growth might only br 2' at the base. not tall not strait.real purty inside though.  pc
life is too short to be too serious. (some idiot)

Here in Nebraska most of it was planted by my grandfathers and great grandfathers generation.  You can tell when the tree groves are square that they were planted around an old homestead.  It's what we've got so its what we use.  You could call it old growth if you want as it is the first generation of trees.  The plains must have been pretty bair before that.

I sold 1 board of ERC today. It was natural edge planed to 7/8" x 13.5" x 103 " long and priced at $6.00/ bf when customer came along the price was already written on the edge in the sapwood in pencil($51.00). He didn't bat an eye and just said he wanted it with two parallel edges and planed to 9/16" . Edged it, planed it, then I just smiled and waved as he drove away.

The log came from kentucky

Got 6 more ready, but dropped price to $4.00 /BF since I paid a sawing customer $2.00/BF so I had some available to other customers. Better that puting money in the bank.
