Sounds like a dumb question, I know, but will the .325 bars made for small Stihls, such as 261 fit on the 361? Would like to try the .325 narrow kerf chain system on the 361. Are there different mount sizes like Husky?

Mad Professor

Mount size on stihl bars are designated by the first 4 numbers on the part #, stamped into the bar too.

Both the 261 and 361 are 3003 bars.  Everything up to 660/066 is 3003 mount.

I think its only the 084/088/880 that have a large mount.  I have put bars from my 361 on a 660.  You would need to swap more than bars though, as the drive system on a 361 is 3/8", not .325".  You'll need to put a. 325 drive sprocket on for that bar/chain to work.

I know of 3 different sizes, small mount on MS200 MS250 etc, med mount on MS260-Ms660 and large mount on 084 088 MS880 075 etc.

There are 3 different sizes- 12,13, and 14 MM openings (I believe I read that somewhere on here one time).

12mm is 026-066  14mm is 084-880  Never heard of a stihl in 13mm. The other mount is smaller on 200 025, then the 12mm slot.

The 025 is 8mm

But the slot is cut a little different from the husky as is open ended

Thanks for the answers. Sounds like 261 and 361 are the same mount. Threw me off when Oregon on its web site does not list any 325 bars available for the 361. Maybe because Stihl recommends only 3/8 on that saw.

One more question. The 361 is a large spline 3/8 rear sprocket. Do they make large spline .325 sprockets? I haven't been able to find them online.

Should be what I call standard size and yes.    For $6 Oregon has one and stihl number below.

Standard, Small, Mini are common rim sizes.

Yes, that looks like it. Standard is a better description, too. Thanks, Cut4fun.

Its possible to convert the MS361 for .325 pitch. You will need the following items:
Guidebar 3003 000 6817 (17=18")
Saw chain 26RS or RM or RMC (72 drive links for an 18" bar)
Rim sprocket .325" 0000 642 1239

FWIW the small splined Oregon rims will not fit Stihl drives .The standard size though will interchange .

I discovered that within the last year on a hybred 034 with an 036 P and C and parts from several other saw I put together .I have no idea what the clutch drum was from other that it was Stihl and it worked .Danged thing took a different bearing though .
