Anyone with a Geiser sawmill?
« on: September 13, 2021, 02:50:57 PM »
Haven't posted here in a while.  I bought and assembled an old Geiser sawmill.  45ft of track, 16ft carriage 4 head blocks, 48" circle blade.  Just cut some neat Black walnut live edge slabs.

Anyway it is a Geiser mill.  Anyone have one in operation?  Please comment if you've ever heard of it.  It seems they were very closely related to the frick mills and rare.

Here is a link to some history I found.   Not much more than that out there.

Here is a google link to one of the first times sawing with the mill.  Made a few changes since this and added some safety items.  I hope the link works for you all.

I haven't heard of a Geiser mill, even though I'm in the general area.  But, after reading the biography of Geiser, I wouldn't be too surprised if Frick might have made some of those mills.

I did run a Fahrquahr mill for a while.  The difference between Frick and Fahrquahr was just a bit in the casting.  I used Frick dogs on the Fahrquahr ratchet, but it had to be filed out a bit to make a fit.

It seemed that all those farm equipment mfg also made sawmills as a sideline.  Frick went the sawmill route.
Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large groups.
