I didn't know what cardoon is but I do recognize that you have a beautiful garden. Seems your garden is nearly as amazing as those walnut cookie tables you make!

We strip the small spines from the edges and boil for 10 minutes. Chill and eat like celery sticks with the flavor of artichoke. Good source of a dark green vegetable... I garden for relaxation. Cheers

The leaves reminded me of thistle - which has a surprisingly amount of nutrition in it.

I thought the same thing.  Looks like a celery with thistle leaves!  But mmmm love artichokes.

If I had seen it in my open areas I'd sprayed it as weed.  ::)

This last weekend we caught about an inch of rain the only real rain for 2018. It has been a long HOT dry year.
