Figured I would try my hand at a dovetail project. Logs are 2.25"x3". Hardwood flooring because the dog is spoiled. Thinking I will use some cedar shingles.

What should I chink with?

Make sure your chinking will be able to stand up to the air pressure from the central heat and A/C system, or are you going with mini splits?  ffcheesy

I was thinking wood stove. Training may be required.

Nice work on the dog house. If for the dog, no chinking. Am sure would enjoy the fresh air.  ffcheesy

If for you, then yes, and lights, AC and the heat system.  ffwave

Fill the gaps with spray foam, trim smooth, cover with permachink.

sum any pics of the jig or how you cut these?  looks a little "ruff" to build.  glad you got all the "bark" off the logs.  looks like you left a "tail wagging" on the ridge beam. ffsmiley

I would definitely use the permachink. Use  foam backer rod instead of the foam.

I cut at the joints on the bandsaw. I did make a jig at first for one end but I found it was too easy to cut into it with the bandsaw. I ended up marking all the pieces with a template and free hand cut them all. I used 15 degrees and went for 3/16" gap on the logs.

I also trimmed the ridge beam today and added cedar shingles.
