Hydraulics work and doesn't lose power . but will work at correct speed then all of a sudden run slow. That may last a minute or so then goes back to the correct speed. I've changed brushes in the motor.
Make sure the contact strip is clean and adjusted.
I did not mention i did that and changed the switch that activates hydraulics. Also checked fluid level. A few months ago I changed brushes on electric motor.
Check those battery cables too. They can be failing to contact intermintenly, causing your pump to only run from the alternator.

I've run it in warm and cold weather. Its been going on for a couple weeks .
You need a good voltmeter to determine whether you are loosing voltage to the pump motor. Remember that ½ of the circuit is the ground which is just as important as the "hot" lead.
Contact brush under the bottom of the frame rail..If that loses contact with the frame, the hydraulic motor will return to the neg battery post through the head support rollers. Not a very good electrical connection plus it's rough on the cam follower bearings...
I will check those tomorrow and see if it helps.
sounds like the contact strip and shoe to me I would really check that closeley .
Also check the brush springs in the motor.
Does it have 2 pumps or one?
If 2 one of the solenoids could be dropping out and only running one pump
When that happen to me it pushes oil out the vent on the other pump.
