Ive always had and used husqvarna but i want to switch to something else for my new saws for this coming cutting season i have a 346xp 357xp and a 395xp  i hear everyone saying they like there stihl ms361 i was thinking about buying one of those or a dolmar 5100s. Heres the thing i never see any big logging companys using dolmars and plus there is only one small dealer near me that sells these out of his garage. Im just a small logging/tree service what is your opionon on the 361vs 5100s i know the dolmar has less power but it is lighter by a few pounds i just think husqvarna is getting way to pricy and is going much cheaper ive had husky xp saws from the late 90s and early 2000s hold up alot more and better than the newer saw yes its the same saw but the older stuff is still running while the new stuff is always getting repaired. Thanks for your input

if you have a 346NE you do not need a 5100. it is heavier than the 346 and not as powerful as a 361, which is only a few ounces heavier. this is from someone who owns 5 dolmar saws and a hedgetrimmer. i also own a 361. i have tried a 5100 and was not blown away, though it is a nice saw. it's just that the 346 is so close in power with about a pound less weight, and is also a very nimble saw for limbing.

if you are comparing a 5100 to a 361 then take the 361 as it sure cuts faster , I like the 5100 but if you got a 346 then no need for a 5100

Don't know much about the dolmar but I have had and used an 036 for many years and have since bought 2 - 361's.  I have had little or no trouble with any of them.  They are awsome saws.  I have a180, 026, 036, 2-361's, and an 045.  The 361's are the saws that get her done most often and for most jobs.  I do plan to replace the 045 with a 460 or 660 in the near future though.

Sorry for the rambling, the 361 gets my vote.

I have used my 5100S Dolmar for about a year and a half and have no complaints. I have done a lot of limbing and brush cutting with the saw.   I also have a Husky 257 that has 12 years experience which is a similar size saw as the Dolmar.

The only thing I wish the Dolmar had was a compression release, although the saw strats fine without it the Husky pulls over so much easier with the compression release.
