Would anyone know if it would be OK to use Automatic Transmission fluid in a woodsplitter??

Shouldn't be a problem.  I run it in my Blockbuster processor  :)

Works fine but, once you start using ATF switching back may be a problem. ATF uses a higher swelling rate on seals. So if you ever switch back the seals may leak or weap.

I would use what the Mfg. reccomends. The most importent thing is don't mix them & change your fluids & filter when reccomended or you'll get foaming.....Cheyenne

The book for my '78 Didier says 10w30 or 10w40  motor oil.  I tried hyd. fluid once, the hotter it got the less snot the splitter had.
I was the smartest 16 year old I ever knew.
