I normally do not make an extra trip to look at an upcoming saw job, but I was in the neighborhood so I did look at one today.  It is 127 miles away and I plan to start sawing on the 22nd.

60 SYP logs to be sawn into framing lumber for the customer's new home.  He is providing meals and lodging and we should be able to easily lay that job by in 3 days.

I do always talk on the phone at length with new customers detailing the needed setup, and sometimes they will email me pictures.  So far I have a good track record and I have never been "bitten" by not looking at saw jobs.  Yes, I have lost an hour or so a couple of times getting things re-arranged, but fuel and time wise, I am still ahead.

Looks like a nice place to work, much shade! nice looking logs as well,  david
only have a few chain saws I'm not suppose to use, but will at times, one dog Dolly, pretty good dog, just not sure what for yet,  working on getting the gardening back in order, and kinda thinking on maybe a small bbq bizz,  thinking about it,

What you can not see is the water after a week's rain.  I will set up on higher ground and the logs will be skidded to the sawmill.

You do have a De-Barker?
The older I get I wish my body could Re-Gen.

Magicman

Oh yes, and by next week it will have a new blade.   ;D

Somebody failed to retract the log turner and shelled the teeth off of his Debarker blade.   :-\

Done that, but with the blade, cotton pick'n turner was hiding behind a large nub,

Is that sunshine I see in that photo? ???  I haven't seen the sun since I got home from Wyoming last week!  At least I didn't need my umbrella for shade while I was sawing on Saturday.  :D

I Hate it when that happens.  Are you gonna get one of the new wider tooth blades?  I'd  like to hear what you think of that type of blade if you do.

Yes, sunshine then, but it was not long before it was raining again.   :-\

Nomad, it seems to me that with some size logs, only the bottom corner would be contacting the log, and surely it would be more of a strain on the motor/breaker to have to plow through another ¼ of bark.  Since mine is running true with the blade, my thoughts were to go back with the ¼" blade.

They're not hard to adjust to keep the thinner ones tracking with the blade.

Today's saw job was very typical.  Mostly 8' logs, a level shady spot for the sawmill and the customer has a boom pole on the tractor.  No pre-survey necessary.   :)
