December 2008, Moscow. The exhibition «Woodex-2008». I take an examination drying / thermo wood Africa, America, Asia.
Humidity forest 4.8 - 5.0%.  Thermo  F = 365. Opinion American friends?
Happy New Year!
Sergey

Den Socling

Sergey,

Are you saying that all of those samples were heated to 365°F in a vacuum?

Den

serg

Den
No. 365 F temperature ago with little excess pressure.
I have done in a vacuum drying board W = 5.0%, a forest in Russia comes humidity 7 - 22%. This moisture is bad for the joiner's production. I did and thermo-dried in one installation, two technologies in one. The term "Thermovac". Make a vacuum-dried, then installation of thermo, expensive for the client, I merged into one. All the board after the thermo a year are constant humidity 4.8 - 5.2%. I conclude that shrinkage, cracked wood does not.

Hello!
Garden furniture made of beech, thermo. Varnish, wax no. Beech natural, the color of the entire thickness.

Thanks for the videos, Serg! 8)

Can you or anyone explain your drying process a bit more?  Is your drying technology unique?  Or are we doing this kind of drying in the States?
I do what the little voices in my wife's head tell me to do.

serg

metalspinner. Thank you!
Russian guys have in America. He is working on its technology on my other new technology. I did two technologies in a drying chamber thermo, downloading at 2 to 16 m3 of timber.
In America, there is no partner. Den wants to make interesting work? It is strong in the field of vacuum drying. We should do a patent in America, American Studies woodthermo, the crisis in Russia, the crisis in America that make friends? Sergey

sergey,
I am curious as to the Beech shown in your pictures of the garden furniture.
Is it durable as regarding decay?
Here in the US, American beech is very prone to decay when exposed to the elements.
The lumber market for this species is practically non- existent.
I have made some attractive cabinets with beech but only for my own use. I dry it to 6% with my small dehumidification kiln, but only to about 104 degrees fahrenheit.
It is, however, excellent firewood.
Beech is attacked by an insect-fungus complex which is slowly destroying this species here.
As a point of interest, Ash is also in big trouble here because of the Emerald Ash Borer imported from I think Asia. Some feel that it will all be gone in 10 or 20 years.
Do you have this insect in Russia?

Pete,
There are a lot of beech in Russia, mostly in west-south. This is quite
difficult specie in terms of drying and processing. In summer time
green lumber easily get infected by fungi, so steaming is very common
procedure before it's going for drying. Thermotreatment at 356F kills
any leaches, eggs, spore no mater what part of the world it's came from.
The sugars, what wood used to have, are destroyed, so a bacteria or
insect doesn't recognize this material as a food. This is chemical free,
but heating in special way. It takes dark color all through dimension,
what make appearance similar to exotic wood. The surface hardness
increased, it became hydrophobic what provide 5-7 times better dimension
stability. Due to that new features we enjoy advantages on solid floors
with no shrinkage and splitting, non creaking stairs, etc. Hydrophobia
is also big deal for the fire wood, what makes it almost double
efficient when it has humidity 40% less compare to normal wood. For
outside use, we implement UV filter to keep it's color for long. But
there is kind of fashion, especially for ash, when it's naturally fade
under sunlight to noble patina. Have you any questions, don't hesitate
to ask.
Sergey

okie

How can you heat the wood to  365F without the wood splitting wide open? I have tarped wood in 85 f heat and 2 days later it was already checking ???
Striving to create a self sustaining homestead and lifestyle for my family and myself.

Okie
Yes, any kind of lumber with 6% has 9-10% in the very middle what is the reason of cracking. Therefore it must be dryied to 6% with difference no more 0,5% through all board thikness. This condition is basic for perfect thermomodification of the wood.
I did a new video thermo pine, see the quality of color and the entire party. Cracks ends there.

These Russian guys are working in America. The site is well written about thermowood.
My way of another, different way. The goal, the summit road with one - thermowood.

Sergey,
It seems like somebody ask me about this process everyday. Are you associated with all suppliers of thermally treated wood or are they copying you?
And in one of your film clips, I noticed the treatment tank looked a lot like a vacuum kiln.  8)

A little birdie at sii dry kilns mentioned something to me about this, this past spring.  I have been digging on the internet trying to find it.  Here it is under my nose.  And soon to be the latest trend, hardwood decks.  They would be beautiful wouldn't they.  $$$$$$$$$$$

serg

Den.
Set Industry similar to a vacuum kiln, but there are key know-how that compared to
other manufacturers of equipment for the thermo. I am extremely
own way and have a number of differences. The main difference is, vacuum drying + thermo, two technologies in one drying.

Yes, it is good $$$$$. Dynamics in Europe for last 5 years was +30%.

My kilns and technology has some advantages in term of price and
reliability, what make me far ahead on the local market by the number of
sold units. I'm interesting to find someone in USA, who understand the
potential of this new trend and ready for cooperation. This is the most
serious alternative to what is already presented on the American market.

Hi
I made a dryer set to produce 700 m3 woodthermo year.
Dryer is a set of 2 cameras same time with a total volume of 36 m3 of load 1 thermo vacuum kiln 12 m 3. Convective dryers are no fans, no dampening system. Term dried pine 50 mm from the humidity 60% to 6% of 9 days, 1 m3 consumption 130 kW. Heat 1 m3 consumption 150 kW. I showed this video.
