Japanese maple?

was told Japanese maple when I bought the place.  Others have said probably not,  anyone know?

Definitely not a maple.  It has alternate branching, not opposite as with the maples. Also, maple leaves are lobed and these leaves are unlobed.

Any idea what it might be? 2 have to come down

Where do you live? Could be poplar/cotton wood.

I do not recognize it.  Could be an import.

maybe a better picture of the bark will help, would like to get an idea what they are

Looks like river birch bark...   edited.. just scrolled up,  those aren't river birch leaves...
