When your hydraulic solenoid microswitch thingymabob goes out and you have to keep sawing here's something you can do to keep sawing. All I had to do was turn on the light switch when I wanted to use the hydraulics. I would time it so I didn't run the pump unless I was also opening a valve. Worked like a charm and I got to keep sawing . . . . . . because I had to. ;D

Been thinking about upgrading to a LT 40 hyd. over my LT 15, but been watching you guys make seat of yo pants repairs sure is making me think. Only time my hyds. don't work is when I'm pooped or my tractor is turned off. :D :D ;D

I dunno Don. I have been down that manual mill road and it sure ain't as smooth as the hydraulic one, occassional repairs and all. :) My LT40 is a dream to use and the engineering behind the Woodmizer is such that i was able to troubleshoot, and eefect a repair within 15 minutes from when the problem arose. I'll take that over my old backbreaker any 'ol day!
You need to quit "thinking about upgrading to a LT40" and do it! ;)
I know that it looks a little crazy, but that is a true testiment to the machine design and kevjay's skillful hand. Keep on sawin kevjay, payday is just around the corner.
Don, keep in mind that kevjay's machine has got more'n a few hours on it.
I rarely have to make do. If I call Wood-Mizer Canada West before 4:00 PM on weekdays, I can pick up the part at the local Greyhound depot at 7:00 the next morning. In fact, I've left a message after closing time on a Friday, and had the manager call me back the next morning. Got the part on Sunday AM.
This means I'll rarely be shut down more than a day waiting for parts. Hardly leaves time to make do ;D.
after having that microswitch go out twice, I permanently mounted a toggle switch at the top right corner of the hyd panel. it bypasses the microswitch, in case it quits working. Guess what, I have never had another minutes problem with the microswitch. I figure that was well worth it.
I just ordered it through thre customer gateway. Most of the parts seem reasonable but that little sucker put me back 50 silvers after shipping! :o
Kevjay, I hear you about the cost of that little microswitch >:( Bought mine at the Wi sales office so no shipping but was still $30+. Special switch, water and oiltight. I couldn't find any microswitch with that mounting hole pattern to replace it so did the same as you until I bought the new one. Now I keep the bypass toggle switch as my spare :D
I looked through my old pile of microwave interlock swithes at my dad's shop (I used to repair microwaves back in the 80s for him before they became disposable) and could not find anything, although I could have "rigged" one I didn't want to spend the time. It costs $38 now jackpine. Gone up since you bought it ;)

Yeah, Ian, Marv just can't stay away from that place. If I want to get some information on a weekend, I just call a little before noon on Saturday, and he'll pick up the phone. Always has a good excuse for being there, too :D.
