Thanks for the link TR. Some of the shots looked more than a little familiar.
FWIW, the EAA museum in Oshkosh Wi has a huge and growing collection of photographs, recorded interviews, and memorabilia, much of it donated by the rapidly dwindling greatest generation.
You do not have to be a flier for that to bring a lump in your throat. Thanks, TR. :)
I'm a flyer... ultralights. Airplanes of this era are just beautiful to me! Well, airplanes in general are beautiful to me!
Great vid, thanks for posting. And "Do Remember".
Reminds me of being at the Oshkosh show, and being among those planes while WWII, Korean conflict, and Vietnam pilots walked and talked about their experiences.
Thank you for posting, I must have gotten a speck of sawdust in my eye while watching the older gentlemen looking at the airplanes.
The week-long happening/airshow at Oshkosh was dedicated to the dolittle raiders and the tuskegee airmen. Several of the original crews were there. And they will gladly sit under a wing and reminisce with just anybody...
The elderly gent in the straw hat and white coat is none other than R.A. "Bob" Hoover. Just ask anybody who flies. ;D
Thankyou for posting this. Very stirring. All my respect not only to the fliers, but all those that have served, and still serve.
