They sent the money, we sent the wood.
Shipping was 40% of the cost.

I wouldn't think that material would be heavy enough to supprt one of those large twin rotor flying machines. Or maybe it was for the bird. :-[

Florida has a large Osprey population.  They have occupied a few microwave towers that the Air Force owned and chose to abandon in favor of the birds.  Some tall posts were erected and boxes were provided for nests which were accepted by the birds.

Just had a new request for quote.
1000  3 1/2" x 3 1/2" x 8' cut into 4' pieces.  2000 altogether.  They are going to put the post into a steel bracket so it stands vertically and then hang a sign for a companies beer.  These signs will be in retail outlets.
If we get the job.
I asked if I could get some beer out of this deal and they said they were just the sign makers.  I would have to take that up with the beer company.

I had an order from afar where the shipping was more than 40% of the total cost. The customer couldn't get the product he wanted locally -- he priced out the local alternatives and the delivered cost of my product was less.

As for "What are they making?", here's one I received last week:

1 - beam 6x8x10'
7 - posts 6x6x8'
1 - brace 4x4x8'

Huh? 7 posts to hold up one 10' beam ???.

I happened to see the project today. It's for a roof over an entryway.

4 - 6x6x8' posts to support the roof.
2 - 6x6x8' "posts" were actually beams supported by the posts.
1 - 6x6x5' cut from the 7th "post" was a tie connecting the 6x6 beams.
1 - 6x6x3' cut from the 7th "post" was a king post resting on the tie.
1 - 6x8x10' ridge beam resting on the king post at one end and the building  roof at the other end.
4 - 4x4x2' braces.
