Title: Searching for Bigfoot in WV
Post by: WV Sawmiller on May 04, 2023, 12:05:15 PM
My 4 y/o GD in Charlotte got a book about Sasquatches the other day and is now very interested in finding them. She is convinced there are some living in "your woods" as she describes our place and she said on the next visit she wants to camp in "our woods" and look for him. Her dad has looked on line and reported how many reports have been made about people seeing them near here. She is convinced she is going to find some "physical evidence" they are here.

I am sure she will want to camp in the back yard in our big family dome tent on her next trip if the weather permits. She has some older local cousins I am sure will be glad to help. She has agreed Sampson can stay with them as he can protect them from Bigfoot. (Sampson weighs 13 lbs and is scared of a chipmunk but he's going to protect them from Bigfoot. ::))

I may have to get out a couple of scrap boards and make some Big Feet and put tracks in the mud in the ditch in the back yard. That is about the only place I can think of that they will show. I may have to get a stick and beat on trees to communicate like they are supposed to do then have someone back in  the woods in the pasture to beat on a tree to answer.

It is so much fun to listen to children at that age with big imaginations. She has evidently done a good bit of research (with lots of help of course) and is pretty knowledgeable for someone her age. I can see we will have a lot of fun with this project.

Whatever you do just don't ride your wheeler up the hill to the location where you plan to bang the sticks, she will swear she heard a Big Foot howling as it rolled down the mountain.  :D

Maybe I can attach the feet to the outside of the wheels on my 4 wheeler and use that to make the tracks. She would probably take one look, measure the distance between tracks and decide we better leave this one alone.

I could come down and make a cameo, I've been accused of having the appearance and size of Sasquatch😁

BB,

We would welcome the visit but I cannot promise you will survive the encounter. A very high percentage of my neighbors are armed and pretty suspicious. ::) :D

I've got plenty of horse hair but I never heard of a Palomino bigfoot. I'll be looking for some dark shag carpet or shredded burlap or such.

Years ago had some nieces camping in the back yard out in the tent, so I grabbed my bear rug, tossed it over my back and while on all fours began hufing and sniffing outside of their tent door.  The door opened to see what the noise was and the light from inside of the tent revealed a bear!!!  Oh the sounds that came from that tent!!!   :D  :D  :D

An old guy I used to hunt with was the epitome of prankster. He made a Bigfoot track like WV is talking about. Took it down to the riverbank where he knew some farmers were taking some gravel out made a few tracks at night. Next day sure enough the farmhand saw them. Man he took the bait , started making plaster molds of them, telling everyone about it he was convinced. As soon as he'd quiet down about it the guy would put some more tracks somewhere else. Oh that was fun to watch unfold.

We have an old Wolfalaurd that lives under our back bridge.  yikes_smiley All of the Grandkids, etc. know that it is there and quite often try to get a sneak peek  smiley_curtain_peek  but that ain't happening.   smiley_ghost  Of course I know that it is actually a Chupacabra, but I just remain silent and keep my secret. laugh_at

I've always thought if there really were creatures like that in the Appalachian mountains there would be recipes for them.

I remember something my brother did when his grandsons were near that age. He made a "treasure map" with some not too hard to follow directions from a rock with a mark to a tree stump, etc and he buried a wooden box with some money and trinkets. He wrinkled the map and with some dirt and dampness made it look old and then told the kids he found it. The boys with a little help from grandpa eventually found and dug up the treasure which made for a good day.

I saved up $2 when I was a kid and bought a brand new Barlow knife at the general store we used to have in the community.I did a lot of reading because my mother decided we didn't need a television.(I thanked her for that decision after I was grown)I read about all the great outdoorsman and had a habit of carving D Boone KILT A BARE HERE on every beech tree I came across. An old boy I went to school with came across one while squirrel hunting and was telling all the boys on the school bus that Daniel Boone had killed a bear behind his house.

We have them running everywhere here, the neighbors down the road even had to put up a Bigfoot crossing sign in their yard.  Alabama Squatch are pretty good smoked.

If you check put the highly factual and believable Big Foot Research Organization, BFRO, there may be a reported sighting close enough to get the kids wound up. :D

We had a reported sighting not too far away, a couple roads over, many years ago.  The description of "It was morning, I put my beer down, looked out the trailer window by the junk pile, and there it was" only makes the sighting more believable. :D :D

We all went "Squatching" as the kids called it this morning. We found lots of evidence but no actual Bigfoot yet. The first proof were all the gnats. Because Bigfoot is such a stinky/smelly animal he draws gnats to him and that must be why they were there. The scratch marks might have been deer tracks but they could have been toenail marks. We found one spot that looked like where turkeys had scratched looking for worms but that could be where bigfoot had slipped in the leaves. And the bark at the base of the dead tree is probably where Bigfoot was scratching his back. But the best evidence was the long hair in the concrete barn at the end of the trip. We had to save it and put it in a ziplock bag to save for the scientists to do DNA testing on it. It is the same color as the horse but we are pretty sure it will come back as "Previously unknown mammal hair." ;) :D

It was a real nice outing. I am afraid it may rain tonight or we would go out then to look for him. ;D

We have some very avid adult Sasquatch
believers in my area. They have an organization, I can't remember the name now. One local community even has a Bigfoot festival, I'd say almost half the yards over there have a large black plywood Bigfoot silhouette set up. At 6'5" and 300 pounds I'd love to get a good Bigfoot costume and make their dreams come true, but I'm too afraid I'd run into a Sasquatch trophy hunter😂

Amatuer. A true Sasquatchian would set out some food for him, get bundled up and sleep in a tree.  When it shows up, you throw a UFO in the air to get it to look up and you take a startling flash picture.  With the wind and the rain buffeting you around, you will have a sasquatch looking at a UFO in a perfectly jostled, blurry looking photo which will make you a worldwide celebrity.

Did not hear Bigfoot??
My little niece, 30 years ago, was looking for Indians artifacts.
I have a picture of her somewhere, dressed up as an Indian.

We are on steep Bigfoot trails so we all had walking sticks.

My grandson is pretty sure a Sasquatch rubbed the bark off this dead dogwood by scratching his back on this tree.

We had to take the flashlight out at dark to look for eyes. Now the big question is "does a bigfoot eye shine in the dark?"

We got pictures of my wife, me, our daughter and the 2 grandkids today in front of some Forsythia in the front yard. I hope to send a copy of it to my SIL who is real good with computer/video editing and see if he can't have a Bigfoot or two photobomb us with his face in the bushes behind us then I can show the grandkids.

My daughter and SIL got married at Glacier Nat'l Park in Montana and he edited a picture to show a big grizzly chasing them in their wedding attire. My now 11 y/o local GD was about 3-4 y/o at the time and she saw the picture and was convinced the bear almost caught her Aunt Sharon. I told her the only way they escaped was that it was a female grizzly and my daughter tossed her bouquet over her head and the bear stopped to catch it and that allowed them to escape.

I am sure my SIL can do a good job convincing the kids Bigfoot was hiding right behind them here in our yard. ;D

We have a group in SE Texas that "hunts" them.  I have spent 50+ years on my hind legs in the woods here.  Seen bear, cougar, civet cats and river otter when they aren't supposed to be here, but no bigfoot, other than some back woods barefoot boys.

We just did a video call to our daughter and her kids and she showed them the picture and our GS is so excited now. He went and got his hair he collected from the barn and held it up to the picture and confirmed it is exactly the same color so he is certain it was there and we did not know it. He asked if it was in the other pictures and we told him no but we are pretty certain the flash must have scared him off. Our GD says she remembers smelling something funny and now she knows what it was.

Our daughter was having a blast at their reactions. Now they want to print a copy to go show their friends.

Photographic proof that they exist! Question though- Why were you standing off by yourself in the bushes during the picture?  :D

The kids and my daughter are now working with 3 theories:

1. Bigfoot is real and we have a picture of him (Most likely true)
2. Something was wrong with Grandma's camera which she had just gotten back from the shop (Possible but a pretty remote chance)
3. Somebody doctored and changed the picture (Highly unlikely  :D)

They asked for the other pictures we took before and after this one to see if he shows up in them. (Pretty savvy idea for a 4 and a 6 y/o IMHO)

They are going to have to send the photo to a "Photo analyst" to be verified as well as sending the hair out for DNA analysis. ;)

I just wish I had a picture of my GS eyes/face when he first saw the picture. It was priceless. :)

On the way home from my first sawing job this afternoon I passed the house of our daughter's best friend who took the picture. She was out in the yard so I stopped and showed her and asked her why she did not say something when she took the picture. She said she was so busy with the unfamiliar camera she just did not notice she was getting photobombed. :D
