Yeah, I'de want to be around if the dog jumped in. If there is steps (not a ladder) she may be able to figure it out. Once she did, she would remember the way afterward.

nope she cant, but our dogs dont roam outside by thier selves. They go out with us.  Actully we are trying to come up with a solution for her getting out simply so se doesnt need to be lifted out.  She seems to have no urge to get in there unless we are in there at the moment.

My daughter's dog Oliver can't stand to be on the sidelines if anyone is in the pool.
He doesn't necessarily want to be in the pool just closer to the action.  Before the float, he would just run around wearing off his pads on the concrete.
Here he is stressing out over my daughter being in the pool.

Jeff

Yea, Scooter has a float toy too.  :D

Jeff, Forgive me but that float seems to have a pretty deep draft. :D

Jeff

Its because of that big dog on it. ;D

Also in my defense, that raft has a mesh center so you lay in the water and not on the raft. Only the oustide edge and pillow and occupant are full of air.

I don't know how you can stand it this early in the year.  Last I heard the ambient temperature was just in the 90's.  Y'all are going to freeze your tookus off.

If nothing else, I would leave some floating devices in the pool in the hopes that a dog might be able to hold onto one till you get home.  Drowned pets is a common occurance down here.  It's even unnerving for wild animals to get stranded in a pool.  It happens a lot to squirrels.

Jeff

I'll come up with a solution. We can have ice floating in our pool.

UNCLEBUCK

For duck hunting I would have a carpeted wood ramp hanging off the side of the boat , shoot a duck and dog jumps out over the other side and swimming back to boat dog would come back to the opposite side of ramp and try and climb up .Never would come near the ramp.  Never seen anything so helpless as a tired wet dog trying to be pulled in over the edge of a boat .

I like the chair ramp you made and it is a definate dog saver .

I think you might have a circus dog , very smart !

Well, it looks like we got us a pretty good Frisbee dog!

Here's a short video clip. about 1 meg so not to awful long for slow connections.  Ice has turned out to be a great addition to the family. She's still just a pup and still learning but she is a sweetheart. Her one fault is inbred within her. She is very very protective of the family. So much she barks as visitors longer then appropriatte. We have started to take her more with us when we go out to get her used to more human contact, but she still has a real issue with male visitors to the house.

Reminds me of the dog we had years ago, Snickers...

She was a mean frisbee dog!  It's pretty fun when you get a frisbee just low enough to the ground that the dog can see it at its eye level, going straight as an arrow.  Snickers would never run so fast as when she was in pursuit of one of those low flying, speedy frisbees, and there always seemed to be more of an act of defiance and pride whenever she snapped one of those low speedy frisbees out of the air.

And of course, she ran back for more.   ;D

Good lookin' dog, Jeff, and talented, to boot!   ;D

How COOL! she's a real star!

Don't they have frisbee-comps for dogs?

She'd win most frisbeeish and best looking, all at once!

She sure has turned into my pal. She's with me much of the time since I got back from bear camp. If I take a nap she has a position she thinks she needs to be in.

I was trying to get her to bring me socks this morning but didn't get very far. I guess you couldnt getme to put my socks in my mouth either. :D
