thats pillowcase money.  ;D

sounds like nobody told tigercat that the $20 two-by-four was temporary.  sack of corn doubled the last two years but a rick of wood is still $40 here right now.  goodluck making that note when the central committee of Chicommuna says sorry, china no more buy wood.

Ed I think I've found you a skidder... 🤷‍♂️ The guys going to send me a pile of pictures Monday, that 460 / 648G3 is only 1.5hrs from me. When he told me Andy Swinton has done the maintenance that means ALOT. I think for the money it's a nice machine, 24.5s and narrow like mine.

if Barge is paying cash in a bag he better bring one hell of a size bag, Tigercat just phoned me , 602 grapple with winch is a 6 month wait and with tax is $423,750 roughly , ya that's not going to work
You guys know that 10k dollar bundles of 100s don't really take up that much room 🤷‍♂️ It's when you mix the 20s and 50s it looks like a pile of money. Right now I'm the brokest man I know, couple wet weeks from standing on a street corner 🤦‍♂️😆

Barge . Thank you and please send pictures. I'm kind of giving up hope up here.  There just is no machines period

ehp

Had another JD salesman phone me today and said I hear your looking for a skidsteer . I said no a skidder.  What is that . You will have to call the farming side of jd to find that . I only deal in forestry and construction.  Yes you see what I get to deal with

ehp

The bank up here will give you a envelope when you get some cash. Its small but I can still put 10 grand in cash in it . 100 grand in cash is very small

I think this was one of the last skidders sold thru "Loggers equipment" in Glens falls. Guy didn't hide anything and we know the same people, I've got no problem going up to look at it. For the money I don't think your getting hurt, 1/10th+ the price of a new tigercat and easier for parts with no DEF headaches. Engine was done 2.5yrs ago, he's got a pile of parts, quite a bit of the machines been packed, sounds like a decent northern machine that's not completely pounded.

ehp

does it have a/c and heat , from pictures it looks ok, so is the 460D the exact same the jd 648g111, if this border crap was not there I would already be there looking

dogone

Just last week I saw a new jd skidder on a flat deck heading west on the trans Canada hiway. Thought it had a grapple on it. This was in south Saskatchewan . No trees for 300 miles so sure wasn't being dropped off near me. This is just a random , possibly interesting post.

ehp

JD keeps alot of their skidders in BC then ships them to where ever, I'm sure Alberta buys way more skidders than Ontario and I think alot more of the skidders put in north Ontario were Cat or Tigercat . Logging is becoming a thing of the past up here , soon we will be back to horses or 4 wheels lol

Heat, ac. SAME machine. People are easily confused when they see a "460 Timberjack", which started in 96 to 98.5, C series was 98.5-01, then the Timber-Deere till 05, you can tell them apart by just looking at the center pins, all 3 are diff.  When Deere bought Timberjack they didn't buy the 460, the patent was bought by Blount / CTR, which then became Prentice, which at the end had a jack style cab, Cat grapple, Cummins engine and a Deere winch. 🤦‍♂️

its pretty bad around here , at least Tigercat knows what your talking about but they sure know how to charge and yes I know John deere and cat do as well

How does a guy pay for a half million dollar skidder in these markets , no one has real solid ground to stand on

EricR

Haven't posted in a long time.  I seem to be banned from posting pictures but there is a tiger cat 610c in Rhode Island.  Probably 5 or so hours from barge. 2013 5000 hours with winch asking $118000. Its on Facebook marketplace in ri and various other fb groups.  I am not affiliated with it.

you dont pay the half million.  you make the monthly payments on it for a few years until warranty ends. then its time to sell and by then they have printed enough extra currency that youre locked in low interest note isnt so bad anymore.
this is why little operations are dying and corporate ones are thriving.  they have the leverage to borrow at rates that are much much much lower than inflation.  hold long enough and unload before its broken. inflation itself is the profit on holding the asset.  running it just paid the note on the asset so it wasnt a monthly out of pocket cost.

its the same as locking in house mortgages at low rates.  as long as you can afford the monthly payment for a decade, youll make money on the sale. it was steep in 1988 when ya bought the house, but as they keep printing, your mortgage is really shrinking in terms of what that money could buy today. the asset value keeps going up and the dollar value keeps going down so the spread in those two is where the money is.

So John deere got back to me today . With tax its $430.000 for a 648 grapple with the 6000 series winch and a 3 year or 3000 hour warranty  which you had to be 2 of those years.

ehp

I like the sound of Barges machine better . I can fix alot of stuff fairly easy. A skidder here will feel like it's died and went to heaven . It's that easy on a machine

Ramon I'm telling you if you went to my local deere dealer you would shake your head in digust, but I believe they have been bought out so who knows, nothing like it used to be yrs ago when it was KC Canary. I see the salesman from Anderson Equipment almost religiously, Milton here and there, Deere salesman just doesn't want to be bothered, you don't buy 4-6 new machines a yr they don't want to know you here.

That machine sits 15mins from that 660 I looked at, the guy seems ok, little bigger than what Eds looking for I think.

I told the guy flat out, take a pile of good pictures and tell me whats been done, guy didn't hide anything, he's had Andy Swinton doing his work which means it's not completely run into the ground. For the money I think it's not a bad deal. Once you go dual arch it's so hard to go back, or want to get out of the cab to pull cable 😆.

I just read this in the timber harvester mag.

I heard that's the same company that bought all the ag John Deere dealerships around the northeast. United ag and turf is what that division is called. From my experience they don't want much of anything to do with the little guy.

i worked at the scrapyard right next to schmidt in spfld for a few years. actually i built the road millings pad right up against their back fence corner.

I'm not a huge JD guy, but I about lost my crackers when I found out all the local dealers sold out to this group, yuck!  The ONLY independent JD dealer I know of that is still around in NH is James R Rosencrantz.  I hate that all the smaller dealers got bought out, only thing I can do is support the one that's left

Hard to believe a small skidder cost as much as a small log loader.
