I'm in the planning and blueprint stages of a new csm. I'm gonna use a 18 horsepower vertical shaft engine. I'll mount it on a rail and it will travel the length of my log bed about 10 ft. Any ideas and or thoughts would be helpful. Thanks.

Slabber bars wear out and are expensive.  Base your mill on a bar that is popular and sold at a competitive price.

Basics, make sure you get a chain that can handle 18hp and skip tooth or some similar setup. I used a csm for awhile and all said and done it was more effort than its worth I dont meen to shut you down but that was just my experience.
