Mike at Norwood    We received the mill on friday and assembled it on saturday took 8 hours three men. We all made some obsevations and would like your advice.
1 After we completed the last step we adjusted the lumber scale and noticed that the blade was not square to the cross bunk we checked our spacers in the lower wheel carraige and they were correct the blade is off about an inch.
2 The plastic lumber scale has a red line that was not level with scale should we shim this with washers.
3 Muffler bracket spacers were not thick enough there were two of these with two holes is there a thicker bracket.
4 What secures the lumer scale at the top does this just float
5 The idler pulley assembly has the brake belt holddown this rubs the band wheel pulley can we just bend it towards cover.
6 The lumber scale sticker we mounted on the post was ripped off when we raised the saw deck.
7 The lift cable is rubbing on the water valve cover should we cut this cover out
8 The engine seems to have a low oil cut off switch mounted by the oil filter is this used.
9 In the picture it shows a rubber grip on the control handle we did not get this.
To all considering this mill it is very well thought out and solid construction i will list some of the mistakes we made we mounted the saw deck it was 180 degrees out we had the operator side reversed we assembled any way then flipped the carraige around. One band wheel was mounted wrong we had to flip that. We put a wire holdown by emergency cut off switch so wire would not tug on terminals. Also re wired at engine and changed out that flimsy blue connector that would fall off in heavy wind.
The spade connectors did not fit over ground screw in engine block went with new connectors there. When we squared the engine we forgot to put the orange bracket on and squared off block after cover was on we reset engine back more and re squared. The track gauge had to be filed tracks were different .  On the sliding rack we used washers in the front two holes not much steel there. We made up a 3/8 hydraulic hose about 12 inches long and removed drain plug on engine and installed this as not get oil all over saw head when changing.

We are going to start it tonight the only major issue we had is when all the cables and band were adjusted anyone who squeezed the control handle said after a few runs your hands are going to be sore very hard pulling back. We thought maybe this will change when it is running we checked to make sure all cables were free.

Good morning Catskillpond

Thanks for your note.  In order to get you on track, we'll need to review a few steps with you to help determine exactly what's going on.  The best way to do that is over the phone rather than go back on forth on the forum. I have forwarded this message to our technical support and someone will be in touch with you shortly. Stand by.

Thanks

Hello Scott

I am sorry for the delayed response; Ken has been unexpectedly away from the office this week. I'll be sure to let him know about your emails when he's back in the office.

Please send us a photo directly by e-mail of the weld, otherwise, return the blade to our shipping warehouse in Buffalo, NY for inspection. If confirmed defective during inspection, we'll ship you a new blade right away.

There are no tension figures; the belt is automatically tensioned when the clutch is engaged.  There is some movement in the belt when the clutch is engaged; that's normal.

We're always happy to help.  Please feel free to call us toll-free at 800-567-0404 as it's generally easier to chat than type.  ;D

Happy milling!

Mike
