Now that with your help I have greatly reduced the bridging issue. (load the logs cross wise)  I figured I would ask if anyone has solved the by-pass sticking issue.  Mine still sticks even with the high burn of below zero weather.  I keep a 4 foot, 1 inch by 1inch stick next to the boiler to push the by-pass open from the inside.  Has anybody found a solution to the sticking by-pass?

I take it you are talking about the damper door in the back?  If so I scrape it every time I open it with the Hoe I bought from CB.  I scrape the front deck section and then after the firebox door is closed I cycle it a couple times.  If I can't pull it open then I know my wood is almost gone and the cresote is making it stick.  Burinign the crap pine I am using it happens at least 1x per week.

I welded a piece of  6 ft. 3/4 " black iron pipe to a 6" round chimney brush , and I use that weekly to clean the bypass door opening - once the creosote build up is knocked off, it does not stick.
