I don't know anything about this other than what is shared in the comment section but thought it was to neat not to share.

Interesting that it cuts backwards too. I would have thought it'd want to run away like a router pushed along a cut in the wrong direction =/

Since everything is mounted solid and controlled, it's not an issue.

I believe I saw in comments possibly on another video of this mill that it was an early prototype of a Rimu mill. It seems to me that he bought it from the original builder and it needed TLC. It works great now.
