What tree is this

A-z farmer

This tree is growing in the woods at one of my daughters place.She has some kind of app on her phone where she takes a picture and it said it was a tulip tree.The only tulip tree I have heard about around here is tulip poplar.But my dad and grandfather cut it down in the 1950 after it died and had it milled for cabinets.

Yes, tulip poplar or yellow poplar.  A member of the Magnolia family.

Roxie you are right he is the wood identification expert .
I am still old school when it comes to technology but I guess the younger generation is embracing it more than me.
My grandfather talked about selling tulip poplar to car manufacturers in the early 20s I think he said it was for running boards .
