Title: LT40HDD51 drive belt cross reference.
Post by: Dave Shepard on November 21, 2021, 10:01:04 AM
In case Wood-Mizer doesn't have one, is there a cross reference for the 3/5VL770 drive belt? This is on an LT40 Super with the CAT 51 hp engine. Thanks.

Wood-Mizer had one in New York ordered this morning, have it tomorrow. At 1,140 hours the driven sheave is bottoming out in the belt groove. Sounds backwards, but that's what is happening.

That's exactly what happened to mine, too- and about the same hours. I couldn't figure out what the issue was. The belt looked fine, tension was good (and even beyond, I was starting to overtighten it trying to get the dang belt to quit slipping😬) I was really banging my head on the wall until it occured to me that the v's could be bottoming out so they weren't contacting the sides of the sheave. A new belt made everything all better😊

I knew it was coming. Ran out of adjustment on the brake, and the band was still good. I always figured it would shred from age before it wore out, but it's still in good condition.

I ran out of belt adjustment at about the same hours.

Should be able to get that belt from any industrial shop (like motion industries) that's  a common call out for a belt.

I called Wood-Mizer Monday, had it 26 hours later. Just got in from installing it. Ready for Saturday.  8)

Judging by the subtle sawing issues I was having, I'm probably 100 plus hours past due.
