Just got my invoice on my blades from Kasco Canada was originally quoted $30 shipping, on invoice I was charged $100 . Asked why the difference I was told to cover their costs shipping from the US kasco to the Canadian warehouse. Hopefully the border opens soon as I'm only 40 minutes from the US . Next order I'll bypass the Canadian kasco office. Unless someone in Canada has a solution. I used to deal with Keith Guadry he has since retired I never had to pay kasco shipping between their locations before .

If I was quoted $30 and billed $100 they would never see a penny from me again and Visa would be doing a chargeback also..  That is just greasy!  Glad I never run kasco  and never will.

Surely we could find someone to toss the blades across the boarder to you. I run Kasco's sorry to hear that... That business  practice is (censored)...

I like the Kasco 4 degree blades , so I sucked up the shipping as I needed them instead of telling him to shove them where the sun doesn't shine . I need to find someone here to sharpen the kasco 4degree blades . This was Kasco rep out of Manitoba, hoping someone from Kasco sees this post with a reply .

Where or who did you buy your blades from ?

I've bought Kasco blades in Montréal Qc .

Never had an issue with shipping from US to Canada . They stock blades in Montréal ( I know because I went there at one time and picked up my order ) was in the area .

Maybe it's different since then ??????

I ordered from Kasco sales rep in Winnipeg Manatoba .

Be careful before tossing them to the wolves. Shipping between USA and CDA is a mess right now. I ordered some restoration parts for my truck from a straight up outfit and by the time the parts got here they had to shut things down because the border issues basically shut them down. Yes I know about "essential service" and all that but they had a tough fight with all that and it killed them. It cost them pretty much double my order to get it to me, but they followed through. Tough times for some.

Maybe try a order in Montréal . Might be a better option . They have a company there not just a sales rep . Worth a try in the future .

That's where I bought my last ones . That was before COVID so maybe it's different now . Might drop by and see if I can pick up a box while I'm in the area

I will post back here if I do

I bought them from a member on here before, is no longer here? He got me free shipping because I was willing to wait a week or two. I would buy from him again.

One bad dealer does not make a bad product or am missing some thing?

" One bad dealer does not make a bad product or am missing some thing?"

I didn't buy from a dealer I bought directly from Kasco , my point is I was quoted $30 shipping but was charged $100 shipping. According to them it is to cover shipping between their American and Canadian warehouses.

I am in the process of ordering some blades.  Do ya'll think Kasco blades are better than woodmizer blades?

I found them better but that's me . I saw only softwood so take that into consideration .

They cost less so that helps

They're a good blade, I wouldn't say they're any better.

I knew Kasco was in St Louis, but never knew they sold sawmill blades.  I may be able to drive right up to the store and pick up blades.  I will call them this week to check into it.  Looking at their website it looks like their selection is not very big for the LT15.  I saw 7's and 10's.

That's kinda interesting. I've bought things through 2 different Canadian companies who have shipped via a US based warehouse without additional shipping. One was "Bed Bath and Beyond" another was "Home Depot", possibly a 3rd company, within the last year.

FFOTS, they don't have everything listed on the website.  Bottom line is they will make up anything in any length but may not be a stock item. Before covid, it was pretty much the same delivery time for listed items and non-listed items.  Not sure about now.

I bought from cutting edge on here. He ships to me for free if I am not in a hurry. First 15 took a week or so and last 15 4-5 weeks. Was told 5 weeks. He takes orders and when he has enough has them drop shipped for free.

Thanks cutting edge.

Not quite, when I ordered my blades, I ordered a custom length of 151-3/8" and received 152-1/4". When I inquired about that, they told me they only make certain lengths, they didn't make the size I ordered. I now have my mill set up for this size, one tooth longer (7/8" pitch), had to add about 3/8" of shims. Since the teeth are in groups of three, this size is perfect, 174 teeth = 58 groups. Maybe they only make them to the nearest group of three teeth times the pitch. Maybe something to ask about when you place an order.

They do list 158" blades on the site, which is what I need.  It makes sense though that blade length has to be somewhat dependent on tooth spacing.  I will be checking into this when I get home this week.  I have had great experience using WM blades, but with the way things are right now, I'm not sure I can get them.  Also since Kasco is based in Stl I would supporting a local business.

151 1/4" is 174 teeth at 7/8" tooth pitch. That gives you equal spacing at the weld. That makes it nice to sharpen them. You don't have to worry about the spacing at the weld.

KenMac

I'm pretty sure my Cook's blades are sized to the tooth spacing but not to the group of 3 teeth. It shows up when setting the teeth. At the weld the sequence will inevitably be different, but makes no difference in sharpening on the Cat's Claw sharpener.

I use 195" blades, 223 teeth, on my LT70 Wide.  Mostly Woodmizer, though because of supply i needed to get some from Kasco twice, via Richard Cutting Edge here. The Kascos were also 195", 223 teeth, not divisible by 3.  Woodmizer once sent me a  222 teeth , 194 " blade to try on my mill, I couldnt get it on, too small.
