I've got a mid 90's Husky 51 and have seen on different threads info about modifying the muffler for better performance. What is the right way to go with this particular model? Thanks.

Saw Dr.

There are several mufflers for that series.  The one I like best is the two piece style that comes apart.  They all come apart, but one version does without cutting it.  Either way, you want to make the outlet bigger.  Sometimes this can be done with a screwdriver, other times you will need to do some drilling or grinding.  Post up some pics of what you have, and we'll give you some opinions.
I don't try to explain to others why I play with chainsaws.  For those who already know, no explanation is needed.  For those who do not, no explanation is POSSIBLE!

Here is a pic of the muffler on my saw. Let me know if anyone has any suggestions on how to modify. Thanks.
