Got a pretty good interest in the older saws in the last couple of years. Been a work in progress but I have got a few gems that have worked out well. From left to right is a 2100XP, runs strong but needs a leaky fuel tank repair. Then a 181XP that is complete and runs great, A Husky 65 runs like a top, then a Jonsered 2065, beautiful runner, 262XP that I bought new in 95/96, bone stock except for the bar and chain, Then (sorry Kevin) a 034 Super, 61CC that runs like it should, and then a Husky 44 that runs great when warmed up, just waiting for a carb kit for it. How I aquired a few of these is kind of strange but they are part of history that intrigues me and is a great thing to be involved in.

I like it, especially the 2100. The 44 brings back fond memories, I mixed and matched from the shop boneyard to build a couple. They were great saws.

Thanks for posting the great pictures, am looking forward to reading more about them as you get them working.

Cool old saws, nice collection. Have video of them at work to post??

Nice, really nice! With the King at the top.
And for the record, I'm not anti-Squeal....I just have no interest in using/owning their saws. Just like some cars I'd never own.

I DO have the smallest pro Squeal weed whacker though....lol. I'm not crazy about the way it starts following their instructions, but it runs great.

Happysawer

Am sure they are crying everyday, because you don't buy their saws.

Real1shepherd

Hardly, and EDITED BY ADMIN KNOCK IT OFF. They have plenty of buyers/users as witnessed here.

I looked around on here for how to put a video on here but couldn't find anything. Do I have to put it on you tube first. Did video of the 65, 185SE and the 2100 today.

Well, Figgered it out! Not so bad. Thanks for the kind words. Just a humorous jab at ya Kevin about the squeal in there :D. That was only the third cut I've made with the 2100 since getting it. Put fuel in the leaky tank for the video. Wife did a good job at video too!

Thanks! The 44 runs real good once warmed a bit. Just waiting on a carb kit and should be good to go. I have two complete saws. The other one has the cylinder and piston scored beyond use. The rest is good for parts.

Into the 380 now. Very nice shape. Devised a puller to put some off you go pressure on the flywheel and a couple quick raps with that fancy brass hammer you see there and off it came.

Seals, fuel lines, a couple anti vibes, clutch, and should be good to go. Had it running before tearing it down, 170lbs compression and the cylinder looks real nice.

Real nice group of saws there. Glad you are enjoying the "bug", because there's no cure for it. :)

I noticed that as well. That looks like something I would do! Not saying it's the right way, but, "a poor man has poor ways" and BOY do I qualify!
Trying harder everyday.

A little advice on that 2100,install a D-handle .They are about rope starting a v twin Harley .Those Swedes are a tough bunch but nobody is that tough especially when they get long in the tooth .Rather perhaps when the teeth reside in a cup at bed time .

Your 2100 is runnin' fat, but that's OK because of the age and it will last longer.

I use a cheap steering wheel puller for my flywheels. Then a machinist offered to make some for us J'reds guys.....beautiful job! Don't be put off if you ever strip one of those puller holes...just tap out to the next size and get a bigger metric bolt. The factory holes are puny for flywheels that have been in a long time.

Lovin' this thread with running Huskies for a change! Might as well video the Squeal for that crowd.

I don't have any trouble starting my 2100's....it's called muscle memory. Some old J'reds are over 200psi compression and they're as bad or worse!

That 65 looks to be running quite well, HOW do they compare to a Jonsered 70e ?? That 2100 looks like what it is, a beast!

Thanks for the tip on running fat. I'll play with that a bit when I run it again. And yes, those flywheel bolt holes had me cringing when tightening up the puller.

I'll do a video of the Stihl 034 Super tomorrow along with the story how it came to be mine, that'll make it even better. Maybe the Jred 2065 and 262XP too. Have to go scaling in the morning and then will "make some cookies"

I don't know how it would compare but yes it sure runs nice. There was two of these sitting in the metal recycling pile at our local facility just as you see it in the video. Thetwin to it had no bar and chain and no spark. both have 160-170 compression. This one had the carb all gummed up and all I literally did to it was that kit, a good flush of the tanks and the fourth pull it started. Adjusted the carb and it just idles away so smooth and revs out nice. The Stihl 034 Super and the Jonsered 2065Turbo are similar stories. The Jonsered is like new.
Glad you enjoyed the video

Provenance stories are the best....or you just bought a used saw from 'somebody'.

If you have no air leaks, the 2100 is happy between 3/4-1turn out on HIGH. And it's happy around 1 1/4-1 1/2 turns out on LOW. I've used a lot of them professionally and they mostly have their sweet spots in the same place, all things being equal.

The fellow I bought it from said he did the top end. How long ago I didn't ask. Maybe that's why it's on the rich side. Maybe I should leave it for a few tanks
