Woodmaster 3-sided planer/moulder problems
« on: April 09, 2020, 11:43:26 PM »
I'm brand new to this forum and I'm sure these questions have already come up a 100 times so if you can steer me to the right thread or help with the questions I would appreciate it!               Problem #1. This machine loves perfectly straight and even width stock, which, as we all know doesn't really exist in large quantities. So, has anyone figured-out a way to put some sort of springs on the left fence to accommodate boards that may be an eighth or so out of perfect?    Problem#2. Have to cut-off end of every board I run as the first 6 inches to go into the routers is out of line as the board lifts off the table slightly after clearing the outfeed roller on the planer. It adds up!                                                                                                                               Problem #3. I don't have $20000.00 to buy a good planer/moulder!

Welcome to the Forum.  As far as #1 goes, prep work, including straight lining is key to running a moulder. I keep my material to sub 1/16" consistency and have no issues as a result.

#2 is called snipe. You want to run your pieces as one long, continuous piece, with the butt ends touching together, and you will all but eliminate the problem.
