Anyone know the thread tap size for the carburator flange on a meteor 272xp cylinder? The threads are just too tight and I'm afraid of cracking the casting.
The screws are Husky OEM 503 49 69-01.

Take one of the carb mount screws to one of the "old school" auto parts stores and they most likely can give you a definite answer to the thread pitch question.     Keep in mind, ideally you'd want to use a thread chaser and NOT a regular tap, difference being a tap is for new holes and chaser is to clean up threads. Chaser is just a tiny bit smaller all around.

This is from somebody's experience in the automotive industry for about 30yrs.

Also, if you've got a spare bolt from one of the carb mounts, you can carefully grind it so as to make your own chaser. Beware, very hard to do on such a small bolt.

Take your time, back & forth, pull out, clean (or rinse), repeat.

if you are going to chase a hole you'll do better with a spiral point tap especially on aluminum .
